Today is a very exciting day! I had the pleasure of interviewing Jenn Summers over at The Old Summers Home. I met Jenn through Sasha Lassey’s awesome Facebook group, Blogging Babes Collective. I loved checking out Jenn’s blog posts on our Facebook share threads, so I asked her if she would like to interview. I’m glad she did!

Let’s start the interview…

What made you pursue your blog? Was it something you always wanted to do?

I loved the idea of a blog for awhile but had no idea what it would take or how to even get started. My friends had been telling me for years that I should start a blog. They say I have a way with words. Once I closed my business and started to do more renovation and home decor I realized I still wanted to share my ideas with others and teach them how to do it too!

The blogging world is a completely different venture for me but I’m glad I took the plunge. In the future I would love to write a book and blogging has given me the confidence to give it a try. Being an author was a childhood dream I never pursued.

That is so awesome, Jenn! I wish you the best of luck with your future book! I’d be glad to have you back on here after you publish!

What does a typical work day look like for you?

A typical day for me starts at 5 am. I like to get up and work on the current weeks post. Sometimes I make the project the same week I write the post. Who knew power tools and blogging went hand in hand haha. I put in a few hours working on the post and then I switch over to social media and start promoting my blog and sharing other bloggers content.

I love to share other bloggers hard work, it gives me a sense of giving back. I never realized how strong of a community blogging is and it’s been very fulfilling for me.

I admire the ladies who get up at 5 am to start work! That’s real dedication!

If you could give women one piece of business advice, what would it be?

Although I no longer have my little business I ran for four years, the most important thing to know is that you get back what you put into it! You need to give it your all to succeed.

Treat it like a ‘real’ job and realize that it will not be a 9-5 job. In the beginning you will need to put in much more of yourself and some really long hours. But it will be oh so worth it!

I love that advice! Treating it like a ‘real’ job is so important!

the most important thing to know is that you get back what you put into it!

If you could sit down and interview any female entrepreneur, who would you choose and why?

Hmmmm…. Well I would have to pick you. I would love to know your answers to these questions. Your website is so professional and beautiful I would have a million and one questions to ask haha. I love that you help and inspire women and would love to know what inspired you to start your blog.

Thank you Jenn! That is so sweet! I will do a ‘get to know the blogger post’ this month and answer these interview questions!

Lets get to know Jenn a little more…

Coffee or Tea? Coffee always coffee! I might be a caffeine addict.

Nothing wrong with that!

Favorite Book? My favourite book…that’s a really tough question. The last series I read was the Millennium Series by Stieg Larson. I could not put those books down!

I’ll have to check that series out!

Guilty Pleasure? Chocolate pudding. My husband says I’m not allowed to eat morning noon and night. What does he know?

He obviously doesn’t know how yummy chocolate pudding is!

Last Show You Binge Watched? Pretty Little Liars, so good.

Agreed.

If you could have lunch with any woman, past or present, who would it be and why? My grandmother. My children never met her and I would have loved for them to see how strong of a woman she was.

Me too girl. My grandmother was my rock.

Thank you for doing this interview, Jenn! I enjoyed getting to know more about you and your blog!
